Finns turn out in force for rally’s 60th anniversary

A record breaking number of entries in the Fiesta SportTrophy International (FSTi) series will travel to Scandinavia next week for the 60th edition of the iconic Neste Oil Rally Finland.  Eleven Fiesta R2 and three GpN Fiesta ST entries will prepare for one of the most hotly anticipated events on the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar.

The Neste Oil Rally Finland is the eighth round of the WRC and the third round of the FSTi. One of the oldest events on the calendar, Rally Finland is also a firm favourite with drivers and fans alike as it lives up to its fearsome reputation as the fastest rally of the year. The event, which will kick off on Thursday 29 July and will feature a total distance of 1,307 km, will comprise of 19 special stages covering 310 km.

Jussi Kumpumäki takes victory in the second round of the Fiesta SportTrophy Finland

The Fiesta SportTrophy (FST) Finland continued on the extremely fast and demanding gravel roads of the Kouvola Rally, which was the second round of the new series. There were five new Fiestas competing when two drivers had to cancel their entry due to working commitments.

FST UK drivers do battle to sample WRC Focus

The fourth annual Rally Show at Chatsworth sponsored by Kick Energy takes place on the 5-6 June 2010.  Fiesta SportTrophy UK organisers, M-Sport, will once again support the event with a BP Ford Abu Dhabi Ford Focus RS WRC09, Monte Carlo winning Fiesta Super 2000 and the Kick Energy Ford Focus WRC02 that Jonathan Greer drove to second on the Malcolm Wilson Rally earlier this year on display.

FSTi crews set for Iberian adventure

The second round of the 2010 Fiesta SportTrophy International (FSTi) series will get underway next week as the competition joins the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) for the Vodafone Rally de Portugal.  This will be the third time that FSTi has visited Portugal and the gravel road surfaces combined with the warm climate will be challenging for the six Fiesta R2 entries and one GpN Fiesta ST.

FSTi shatters WRC record in Turkey

The 2010 Fiesta SportTrophy International (FSTi) series got off to a challenging start in Turkey this weekend as Britain’s Harry Hunt finished the three-day event in a record breaking 18th position, the highest classified Fiesta R2 in a WRC event to date. The previous record was held by Lambros Athanassoulas from Greece, who finished a credible 25th overall in Spain last year.
